Where do old model boat kits go when they die?

This actuator was designed to make use of readily available parts. Here are the main items I used:

A Geared motor - 3-6v, 120 RPM, plastic gearbox. Commonly available on eBay. Use 3v to drive it

. Microswitches - 1cmx2cm, lever and roller. You can get them in multiples of 10 from eBay

Cable attachments to suit. I used a strip of PCB and some PBB-mounted connectors.
Getting the Parts
Some things you just have to make - but they are designed to be as easy as possible!

First, the acrylic sheet. One rectangle, one disk. You can see how to make a fairly accurate round disk in the build pictures later

Click on the image to download a full scale drawing to use for cutting lines.

If you want to build a QB version, you will need three small acrylic strips, and to bend some brass wire for the contacts. Again, the downloaded drawing gives you the sizes and shapes to create.

Finally, a few Brass items: - 12" 5/32 square tube - 2" 5/32" round tube - 1" 1/8" rod - small strip of 1/16" sheet. small strip of 2 thou sheet

You will also need a few other items, such as a selection of M2.5 round head bolts, wire and a small self-tap screw
