Old Model Boats...
Where do old model boat kits go when they die?
This actuator was designed to make use of readily available parts. Here are the main items I used:
A Geared motor - 3-6v, 120 RPM, plastic gearbox. Commonly available on eBay. Use 3v to drive it
.
Microswitches - 1cmx2cm, lever and roller. You can get them in multiples of 10 from eBay
Cable attachments to suit. I used a strip of PCB and some PBB-mounted connectors.
Getting the Parts
Some things you just have to make - but they are designed to be as easy as possible!
First, the acrylic sheet. One rectangle, one disk. You can see how to make a fairly accurate round disk in the build pictures later

If you want to build a QB version, you will need three small acrylic strips, and to bend some brass wire for the contacts. Again, the downloaded drawing gives you the sizes and shapes to create.
